Julia Roussos, DNP, MSN, CRNP of the Northwest Pennsylvania Nurse Practitioner Association was selected to receive the 2017 Shelia Gealey Award for her activities in advancing the role of nurse practitioner. The Shelia Gealey Award was established in 2012 to honor Shelia Gealey, a long-time leader of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and its' first president. The award is presented annually to a nurse practitioner who has been proactive in protecting and enhancing the role of the nurse practitioner in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Julia Roussos, DNP, MSN, CRNP has been a long time member of PCNP and NPNPA. She has been the Treasurer of PCNP and NPNPA. She has promoted NP legislation, lobbied her local legislators, and has attended many Lobby Days. Julia uses her leadership, nursing and NP skills as she volunteers with Erie United Methodist Alliance (UEMA) in outreach for Homeless Veterans and other homeless. She is not only offering basic personal care, but also is working to establish a framework to be able to offer more advanced medical services. Congratulations Julia!
