 Lobby Day 2018

April 17, 2018

Plan to join fellow nurse practitioners, students, supporters and more on April 17 for Lobby Day 2018.

As we push for full practice authority, it is important to have your voice heard by rallying with fellow NPs and speaking with legislators about the importance of this legislation. We'll be meeting at 9:00 a.m., and the rally on the Capitol steps will begin at 11:30 a.m.

We also are encouraging members to meet with their state representatives and senators to reinforce the importance of passing HB100 and SB25. To make it even easier, PCNP will schedule your legislative meeting - simply indicate whether you need an appointment on the registration form.

Register on the form at the bottom of this page to secure your spot and legislator appointment for Lobby Day 2018!

2017 Lobby Day Recap

On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, more than 200 nurse practitioners, co-sponsors and students came together for an overwhelming show of support. An hour after NPs rallied on the Capitol steps, Senate Bill 25 passed the Senate Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure Committee!

 THE VOTE WAS 13-to-2

Senators Lisa Boscola and Camera Bartolotta (above, left to right) were among several legislators who voiced their support at the rally. Sen. Bartolotta has said the law hurts rural communities that lack doctors and could be receiving services from nurse practitioners.

“We just need to allow nurses to treat patients to the fullest extent of their knowledge, training and education,” Bartolotta said in a statement. The senator reiterated that nearly 35 percent of Pennsylvanians live in areas without adequate access to a primary care physician.

Our work is far from over; as the next steps will be a vote by the full Senate. This hearing has not yet been scheduled, but in the meantime you can tell your legislator to support full practice authority for NPs.
